Furniture

I enjoy designing and building furniture. Design applies to all aspects of the built environment, and furniture is but one component.

Rather than relying solely on IKEA to populate my home, I decided to make some furniture of my own.

The process of making allows one to understand and appreciate the properties of materials. It is a welcome vacation from the cerebral medium of computer and paper.

Crotch wood produces an interesting figure in the grain - a result of the tree knitting itself together at the junction of trunks and branches.
Mid-century inspired hairpin legs make the slab appear to float above the ground.
