Historically sympathetic carriage house/art studio in a mature neighborhood
This new carriage house/art studio is located on a boulevard of historic homes in Champaign. Great care was taken to respond to the existing architecture and details of the existing house, while introducing a whimsical bold new identity. The finished structure becomes a compatible element that enhances the composition of the neighborhood fabric.
The new outbuilding contains a garage, an art studio with expansive views to the north, and a full bath for later conversion as a caretaker’s apartment/guest house.
